As a conqueror, Shao Kahn seeks to expand the Outworld by forcibly taking over other realms. Scorpion, once known as Hanzo Hasashi in his human form, was killed by Bi-Han (Sub-Zero) and resurrected two years later as a ninja specter. A former member of the Japanese Shirai Ryu ninja clan, he earned the codename “Scorpion” due to his deadly skills. His signature moves include the Kunai spear and his hell fire. Bi-Han, Scorpion’s great rival and the one responsible for his death, was the first Sub-Zero and a member of the Chinese Lin Kuei ninja clan from Outworld. After his death at the hands of the resurrected Scorpion during the tournament, his younger brother Kuai Liang, who also wields the power of ice, took on the mantle of Sub-Zero to avenge his brother and eliminate Scorpion, perpetuating the cycle of vengeance.
